Neighbourhood House Community Governance project

In 2012 Network West gained funding for the Community Governance Project. The project included a literature review, the development of a capacity and community governance measurement tool, an online survey, sector consultations and case studies.

The process was guided by the Governance Steering Committee made up of Members from Network West.

Some of the key recommendations to come out of the Project were:

  • The adoption and implementation of an assessment framework and its utilization as a self assessment tool for committees of management of advisory committees.
  • Network West work with ANHLC to review community development principles and practice and how they need to be applied across the network/sector, whatever the governance model.
  • The establishment of a governance development program across the Network, which incorporates committees of management and advisory committees
  • Training and orientation programs for new committee members.
